UPDATE: Second homicide suspect in Monroe Street shooting arrested

UPDATE: UPDATE: On May 22, 2014, Kendrick Laneheart, 26 of Alexandria was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Team on warrants secured by APD Detectives in reference to the above mentioned investigation. Laneheart was charged with one count each of 2nd Degree Murder, Obstruction of Justice, and Contempt of Court. 

LEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting on Monroe Street.

According to APD, officers responded to shots fired on Monroe Street at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. Officers arrived and found a man had been shot in the parking lot of the Save More convenience store.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.

APD Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Jarvis Jackson, 18, of Alexandria. Jackson was later taken into custody with the cooperation of his attorney and charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder. Jackson's bond has been set for $250,000.00.

The victim was identified as Denardo Boyd, 25, of Alexandria.

This incident is still under investigation, and no other details are being released at this time.
