ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) On May 15, 2014,Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 6000 block of Dixie Lane, Alexandria, in reference to a vehicle burglary.

Upon arrival, the victim told the deputy an iPad was taken from their vehicle, according to RPSO.

Detectives began their investigation and obtained evidence supporting that minutes after the electronic device was taken from the vehicle, an attempt to sell the device at a local electronics store was made, RPSO stated.

The clerk refused the sale due to the property labels located on the device.  Detectives developed information on the suspect, identified as Ty Douglas Gilbert, 23, of Alexandria.

On May 28, 2014, Gilbert was taken into custody and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on 1 count of Simple Burglary and 1 count of Criminal Trespassing.

Gilbert remains in jail on a $50,000.00 bond at the time of this release.
