Leesville Police investigate shooting at local establishment

LEESVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On May 16, 2014, officers with the Leesville Police Department responded to the area of North 5th street in reference to a complaint of shots being fired at a local establishment. 

Upon the arrival of officers the scene was secured and declared safe.  Through further investigation it was determined that a disturbance had occurred involving Jeffery A. Yates, 39, of Leesville and Kenneth “Mark” McWilliams, 52, of Leesville.

Yates was charged with Attempted Manslaughter and Possession of a Firearm on Premises of Alcoholic Beverage Outlet. His total bond was set at $10,000.00.  On May 27, 2014, McWilliams turned himself in for active warrants relating to this incident. 

He was charged with Possession of a Firearm on Premises of Alcoholic Beverage Outlet, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Aggravated Battery, and Simple Battery. His total Bond was set at $5,500.00.
