RPSO makes arrest in copper theft

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On May 26, 2014, deputies from the Tioga Substation responded to a complaint of a burglary at a local electrical sub-contractor company. 

Employees discovered approximately 300lbs of copper fittings had been taken from the plant.  Tioga detectives initiated their investigation and were able to develop a suspect identified as Fredrick Jon Williams, 53, of Pineville. 

During the investigation, detectives were able to locate where Williams allegedly sold 165lbs of copper fittings to a scrap yard in another parish. 

According to RPSO, detectives were also able to recover the 165lbs of the 300lbs of stolen copper from this scrap yard. 

Warrants were obtained for Williams's arrest and on June 4, 2014, detectives located Williams and he was arrested without incident for 1 count of Simple Burglary, 1 count of  Theft of Copper $500-$1500 and 1 count of Theft <$300. 

Williams was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he remains on a $3750.00 bond.
