Steel fabrication business seeks workers

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) — Hayes Companies, a steel fabrication company, will conduct a job fair at Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) in Alexandria on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CLTCC and LED FastStart in partnership with Hayes Companies are searching for individuals with five or more years of manufacturing experience to fill Flux Core Arc Welders and Structural Fitter positions at Hayes Companies’ fabrication facility in Pineville.

New hires can expect to earn up to $23 per hour with shift differentials paid for those hired to work the night shift. Selected applicants must complete a job screening and pre-employment assessment. Selected applicants also are required to pass a drug screening and background check. Anyone interested in attending must pre-register at www.louisianawelderworkshop.com. Hayes plans to hire 18 skilled individuals over the next 12 months. Hiring will begin after the job fair.

“Hayes Companies is one of the leading manufacturers in the south. These are good-paying jobs that will improve our economy and help prosper our community,” said Brenda Thompson, vice chancellor of Workforce Development and Enterprise Services.

“Our role as a technical and community college is to train individuals for these types of positions. This is an example of the types of jobs that may be available to our students upon completion of our welding program. We encourage anyone who is unemployed, underemployed or just looking to begin a new career to come inquire about our programs.”

CLTCC is located at 4311 South MacArthur Drive in Alexandria.
