APD apprehends Armed Robbery suspect

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On 06-09-2014, Alexandria Police with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Jomar F. Ellis, 21, of Alexandria and charged him with 1 count Armed Robbery. 

On May 30, 2014, APD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 Block of Dixie Lane in reference to a reported robbery of an individual.

Upon arrival, the investigation found that the victim was robbed at gunpoint while in the 3900 Block of Lisa Street in Alexandria. The victim stated some cash and electronic items were take, according to APD.

The case was assigned to APD Detectives and after further investigation, detectives connected Ellis to the robbery and secured a warrant for his arrest. Ellis was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop in the 5200 Block of Lincoln Road.

Jomar F. Ellis was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking.

This incident is still under investigation and no other details are being released at this time.
