NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested two Grant Parish residents during a traffic stop on US-71, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, June 10th, at approximately 9:12am, the NPSO 911 Center received reports of a green Chevrolet pickup truck being operated in a reckless manner while traveling southbound on US-71 south of Clarence, La.
Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division were dispatched to the area to BOLO for the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, deputies observed a vehicle matching the description parked on the shoulder of US-71 south of Clarence.
Deputies pulled behind the vehicle, observing the driver and a passenger asleep inside while the engine was still running.
Deputies were able to awaken the occupants of the vehicle, and while talking to them learned they were allegedly traveling from Texas to the Montgomery area of Grant Parish.
Deputies obtained permission to search the vehicle and occupants, seizing two bags of suspected synthetic marijuana, and drug paraphernalia on a passenger’s person identified as Skylar Blake Welch.
Deputies also learned during a National Crime Information Center Wanted Person Check that an additional passenger in the vehicle identified as Daisy Marie Thompson, was wanted since October 25, 2013 by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Texas for Probation Violation on a prior Dangerous Drug conviction.
Deputies arrested:

Skylar Blake Welch, 18, of Montgomery, La., booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Welch remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center pending bond.
Daisy Marie Thompson, aka/Daisy Marie Allen, 46, also of Montgomery, La., booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention charged with being a Texas Fugitive for Probation Violation on a Dangerous Drug conviction.
Thompson is awaiting extradition to Texas.
Deputies say the driver of the vehicle was released after passing sobriety tests.
