Fort Polk is celebrating its Army birthday

(KALB News Channel 5) - The Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk's Army birthday celebration will be held on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. Two hundred thirty-nine years ago, America's leaders established the Continental Army.

The ceremony will take place at Fort Polk's Warrior Community Center. Brig.

Gen. William B. Hickman, commander of the JRTC and Fort Polk will cut the Army birthday cake with Command Sgt. Maj. Eric Crabtree and the oldest and youngest Soldiers on Fort Polk. All 183 streamers will be presented to the Army colors.

Please join us in celebrating 239 years of the life-long commitment exemplified by the Soldiers of today and those who have gone before.
