ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- On June 3rd, 2014 at approximately 12:30 pm, deputies responded to Winfield Drive in Alexandria in reference to a report of a theft.

Upon the arrival of the Deputies, the victim stated some of his tools and construction equipment were stolen from the job site. The case was turned over to RPSO Detectives and they began their investigation.

It was discovered that an employee of the victim, identified as David Lee Keefer, allegedly took the equipment while he had someone call the employer to say he was in the hospital in Shreveport. Detectives discovered that while Keefer was supposedly in the hospital, he was seen walking around the job site alone and the items were discovered missing after that.

Detectives continued the investigation and located some items in plain view at Keefer’s residence. With this information, Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and were able to recover multiple items that were stolen from the complainant.

David Lee Keefer was then arrested without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for 1 count of Theft $1500 or more.
