City conducting investigation in trusty murder-suicide

Posted: Updated:
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- The City of Alexandria says it is conducting an internal investigation on the supervisor of a trusty who walked off the job and killed a woman last week.

McKennedy Armstead stole a city utility truck last week and drove to Grant Parish, killed a woman and then killed himself.

Mayor Jacques Roy says he can't go into detail about the investigation. But, he says if it shows the city was at fault, they'll take a closer look at the supervisor.

"The law enforcement needs to complete that," said Mayor Roy. "We will look at it. But, the answer is, of course, yes, we are looking at the individual involved to determine if there are issues that need to be fleshed out there."

The victim in the murder, Jhonnie Kite, was buried Wednesday.
