APD: Man Arrested for Aggravated Rape

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) --  On June 12, 2014, Alexandria Police Department arrested Ja'khel Cortez Brown, 19 of Alexandria.

Brown was charged with 2 counts Aggravated Rape, 1 count Home Invasion, 1 count False Imprisonment/Armed with Dangerous Weapon, 1 count Armed Robbery, and 1 count Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

The arrest follows a lengthy investigation into the home invasion/sexual assault and armed robbery reported to APD on May 18, 2014. The victim's car was also taken following the incident. This incident occurred in the 4000 Block of Lakeside Drive.

Police tell us this occurred at Chateau Deville. 

Forensic testing led Detectives to obtain arrest and search warrants for Brown and a residence on Hargis Street. Both were executed on Thursday afternoon where Brown was taken into custody without incident.

Ja'khel Cortez Brown who has a prior conviction for Robbery was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking where he remains on a $1,075,000 bond.


This investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
