Radio host, Casey Kasem, dies at 82

CALIFORNIA (NBC News) -- Casey Kasem, the legendary radio host, has died.

Kasem was best know for hosting the "American Top 40" weekly radio show.

Kasem also provided the voice for "Shaggy" in the cartoon "Scooby-Doo" and has small acting roles in several TV shows, including "Hawaii Five-O" and "Quincy."

He was the youngest ever inductee to the Radio Hall of Fame.

Kasem suffered from a form of dementia, and over the past year, was the center of a bitter legal battle between his children from his first marriage and his second wife, Jean.

Kasem was 82.
