Ball debuts Code Red program

Posted: Updated:
BALL (KALB News Channel 5) -- Residents in the town of Ball can begin registering for the Code Red community notification program.

The program sends a message to your home phone or cell phone that alerts you in cases of severe weather or other emergencies.

Code Red is a free service.

Residents are able to add multiple phone numbers under one home address.

The town's mayor says it's a great service to have.

"It's very, very exciting," said Mayor Jonathan Dean. "I know that we have a lot of senior citizens in the area that still use land lines. So, they don't necessarily get the text messages. It protects children. It also protects businesses. The best thing about this, as well, is that businesses can sign up for this service."
