Video of Carter Rhodes, Jr. incident released

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - News Channel 5 has obtained a copy of video from the dash camera of a patrol car the evening a Pineville police officer shot a man who was charging at him with a knife.  We want to caution you this video may be upsetting to some viewers.

On April 10, 2012, officers were looking for Carter Rhodes, Junior to place him in protective custody. They spotted him at under the overpass on Highway 28 East. 

In the video, you can hear Officer Spencer Brister order Rhodes to stop and drop a knife that he is holding. 

Rhodes raises the knife and begins to charge at the officer. Brister fires one shot that hits Rhodes in the pelvis. Rhodes falls to the ground. 

The officers place Rhodes in handcuffs and then emergency responders arrive to treat him. 

Last week, a Rapides Parish judge ruled that Rhodes was not guilty of resisting a police officer with force or violence. 

A civil suit is still making its way through the courts.
