Teaching the "whole brain"

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Educators from all over the south are in Cenla this week learning how to teach the "whole brain."

Chris Biffle and his Whole Brain Teaching team are holding a three-day conference at Louisiana College.

About 1,000 teachers and teaching students are in attendance to learn how to engage students more fully, consequently making them more disciplined and better problem-solvers.

"The concept is that with repetition, things are good for children," said Camacia Smith-Ross, director of the Master's in the art of teaching program at LC. "And if they're able to make those different connections as they are learning by scaffolding, then they will tend to get better results."

In the past decade Biffle and his team have given seminars to more than 6,000 educators representing more than 300,000 students across the country.
