Third state auditor pleads guilty in fraud case

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former managing auditor for the state Department of Children and Family Services told a federal judge that he used his state credit card to rent hotel suites in New Orleans and also was reimbursed more than $27,000 for official travel that never occurred.

Thirty-three-year-old Corey S. Polk is the third ex-DCFS auditor to plead guilty to federal program fraud since late May.

Former auditing director 34-year-old Delrice Augustus pleaded guilty May 28 to theft from a federally funded entity, and 38-year-old Kaneasha Goston, who reported to Augustus, pleaded guilty last week to the same charge.

The Advocate reports Polk, Augustus and Goston, all of Baton Rouge, are awaiting sentencing.
