ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- Some Central Louisiana girls got the chance to learn what life was like in the 1800's.

The Kent House Plantation is hosting its "Jane in June" summer camp.

Daily activities for girls aged eight to 12 focus on the role young ladies played back then.

The girls are also learning skills like sewing, setting a table and the etiquette of hosting a tea party.

"There are very few history camps.  What we want to give the girls is a history lesson to show them what activities that would have been completing years ago,” said Ashley Dekeyzer, the camp coordinator.

Jane in June is hosted annually by the Kent House.
