Two arrested in Grant after fleeing from police

GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On June 24, 2014, the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report that a vehicle stopped at a residence in the Springhill community and its occupants offered to sell drugs to children that were in the yard of the residence.  

A deputy responded to the  location and passed a vehicle matching the description given by the children.  GPSO reported the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but it’s driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and turned off the headlights in an attempt to flee.  The van later crashed.  

The driver was identified as Jeanie Evans and the passenger as Daniel Stellwagon.  Evans admitted to deputies that Stellwagon was in possession of narcotics however, no drugs were located, according to GPSO. 

Stellwagon, of Ball, was arrested for Criminal Mischief, Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Trespassing, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.  

Evans, 32, of Pollock, was arrested for Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Damage to Property, Speeding, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Driving without Headlights, Driving Under Suspension, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Felony Theft.
