Sheriffs departments and LSP investigating body found in Catahoula Parish

CATAHOULA PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – The Catahoula, Terrebone, and Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the Louisiana State Police, are investigating a burial site found about five miles north of Sicily Island.

According to KNOE 8 News, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call with a tip last night about that body.

According to Sheriff James Kelly, deputies found that site off Louisiana Highway 425. They have been on the scene since then and have uncovered human remains.

Sheriff Kelly says the departments are treating the case as a homicide.

Two suspects are in jail in connection to the case. One person of interest, a man, is being held in Ouachita Parish on an unrelated charge. The other person, a woman, is being held in the Catahoula Parish Jail on an obstruction charge.

Mary Manhein of the LSU FACES Laboratory is on the scene working to help identify the body.

The sheriff’s office tells us they don’t know the identity of the body.
