APD nabs Alexandria man for 3 armed robberies

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On June 28, 2014, Alexandria Police Department detectives arrested Dontreal Hampton, 17, of Alexandria and charged him with three counts Armed Robbery.

According to APD, On June 8, 2014, police responded to investigate a reported robbery of an individual that occurred in the 5200 Block of MacArthur Drive. The complainant stated he was robbed at gunpoint by a male subject. The case was assigned to detectives.

The investigation found that similar robberies had taken place on January 30, 2014 and April 4, 2014. These robberies occurred in the 3400 Block of Baldwin and on Evergreen Streets respectively. During these robberies, cash, electronic items and a firearm were taken, APD stated.

Based on similarities and other evidence, detectives secured a warrant of arrest for Hampton who taken into custody without incident after being located in the 3900 Block of Duhon Lane.

Dontreal Hampton was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking where he remains on a $300,000.00 bond.

All reported robberies were of individuals and there were no reported injuries.

This investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
