Is Diabetes Often Over treated?

(NBC) Treating type two diabetes patients until they reach a standard blood sugar goal may do more harm than good.

A new study from the University of Michigan finds adding new diabetes drugs to a patient's regimen may be associated with significant side effects -- like weight gain.

They say once a patient has achieved moderate control of his or her blood sugar, adding more medication offers little benefit while increasing their risk for side effects and interruptions to their daily life.
