ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--New education opportunities for high schoolers was the talk at a downtown gathering Tuesday afternoon.

They were talking about the University Academy of Central Louisiana, which  will open its doors on the LSUA campus. It will give students a chance to experience curriculum that combines both high school and college level work.

And when they graduate,  students will have a high school diploma and up to 60 hours of college credit.

"One thing we were finding was that students were not fully prepared for the full transition from high school to college.. So this will give them the opportunity to figure that out while also earning college credit,"

Students would have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits. There are still spots available for students looking to enroll.
