THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - The founder of a Lafourche Parish animal-rescue group was arrested after authorities said they found her 3-year-old daughter walking barefoot in animal feces inside their home.
Deputies said they also found animals in poor health in the home.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old Dani Morgan of Thibodaux, was booked Thursday with 14 counts of animal cruelty and one count of cruelty to a juvenile.
Morgan is the founder of "We Stand Bayou," an animal rescue group.
Morgan told The Daily Comet of Thibodaux Sunday that she and her daughter had just returned from a trip Thursday and that a sitter had been watching the animals.
She said her house is always well kept and she would never put her daughter in jeopardy.
