ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Attorney Robert "Bob" Levy announced today he has ended his campaign for 9th Judicial District Court Judge, Division G.
Levy cited the recent campaign announcement of incumbent judge Harry Randow as the reason for his withdrawal.
"When I announced my candidacy for judge earlier this year, it was with the understanding that Judge Randow had reached the constitutionally mandated retirement age for judges and therefore would not be a candidate for re-election," said Levy.
"However, since my announcement, the Louisiana legislature has approved a measure to allow the voters to consider amending the state constitution to address the mandatory retirement age issue," said Levy. "Judge Randow has decided to run for re-election in hopes the voters will approve that proposed constitutional amendment."
"I had no intention of running against an incumbent in this election," said Levy, "and therefore I am ending my candidacy for judge."
"My deepest appreciation and thanks go out to the many, many friends and colleagues who volunteered to help me, raise funds for me and walk door-to-door on behalf of my candidacy,” concluded Levy.
