Arrest made in access card theft

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On May 23, 2014, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 2600 block of Bolton Avenue, Alexandria in reference to an unauthorized use of an access card. 

Deputies spoke to the complainant and they were not sure where the card was stolen but purchases had been made on it.  

Detectives initiated their investigation and obtained evidence supporting the allegations of the theft. The card was accessed multiple times with completed purchases totaling approximately $750.00 and attempted purchases over $1000.00, according to RPSO. 

Through their investigation, Detectives developed a suspect, identified as Israel Areaz Reed, 34, of Cheneyville.  

On July 7, 2014, Reed was taken into custody and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on charges of Felony Unauthorized Use of an Access Card and Felony Attempted Unauthorized Use of an Access Card.  Reed remains in jail on a $5,000.00 bond.  .
