APD makes weapons and narcotics arrest

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On July 8, 2014, during patrol, APD Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 600 Block of MacArthur Drive for a traffic infraction. The vehicle was being operated by Melvin P. Sigur. During the investigation, officers located a handgun and suspected marijuana.

Alexandria Police arrested Melvin P. Sigur, 78 of Alexandria and charged him with one count of Possession of Firearm W/Drugs and one count Possession of Marijuana.

The weapon was removed for officer safety reasons and checked for stolen. Further investigation revealed that the weapon was reported stolen from North Carolina in 2003.

Sigur was taken into custody and charged with the above and issued two citations for Unauthorized Stopping in the street and Driving under Suspension. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Lekedra Quinney, 32, of Alexandria. Quinney was also arrested and charged with one count Possession of Marijuana, one count Resisting an Officer, one count Contempt of Alexandria City Court (Warrant), and one count Contempt of Court, 9th Judicial District (Warrant).

Both Sigur and Quinney were transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for Booking.
