Posted: Updated:
PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On July 14, 2014, deputies responded to the 6100 block of Maxwell Street in Pineville in reference to burglary.  Upon arrival, the complainant advised she was watching a family members house while they were out of town.

When they went to check on the residence, the complainant noticed evidence of someone having been in the residence.  The complainant looked around the house and saw the suspect, identified as Jeffery Chelette, 33, of Colfax, in the back yard.  He was advised by the complainant to stay away from the property and he left the residence.

Detectives made contact with the homeowner and advised her that since this has been a ongoing incident, detectives would secure warrants for Chelette’s arrest for Stalking and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling.

Detectives secured their warrants and on July 15 and arrested Jeffery Chellette without incident for Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling.  Chelette was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he is being held on a $50,000.00 bond.

A slow "farmer's" rain fell across the area today as the area was blasted with tropical moisture to the south. As high pressure setup across the eastern U.S., tropical moisture banked up against it and consolidated across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. As a trough approached from the west, the high pressure pushed eastward allowing the tropical moisture to finally move northward in bulk. These types of events can produce hefty rain events around here and this event did not disappoint. Attac...More >>
