PINEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On July 18, 2014 at 1 p.m., the Pineville Police Department along with Pineville Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance responded to an accident in the 2600 block of Louisiana Highway 107 (Melrose Street).

Preliminary reports show that Pineville City Marshal Larry Jeane, driving a Pineville City Marshal owned Ford F150 traveling north crossed the center line and hit a Ford Fusion, driven by Sarah Barber, in a head on collision, according to PPD.

The Ford Fusion was also occupied by three teenagers. Both drivers of the vehicles had to be extricated from their vehicles by Pineville Fire Department. Acadian Ambulance transported all five individuals involved in the accident to Rapides Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

PPD stated a witness driving in front of the Ford Fusion reported that they observed Marshal Jeane slumped over the steering wheel while his vehicle was crossing over into their lane of travel.

It appears that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelt. There is no indication of alcohol being a contributing factor in the accident. The accident is still under investigation.
