NPSO, LSP arrest parolee on multiple charges

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted by the Louisiana State Police arrested a Natchitoches man on felony drug charges following a disturbance near Natchitoches on Monday evening according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday evening July 21st at approximately 9:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Louisiana State Police responded to a reported disturbance with alleged shots fired on Pratt Lane, south of Natchitoches.

Deputies said upon their arrival, they encountered several individuals including a juvenile at the residence.

While talking to the owner of the residence, identified as Randall G. Obannon Jr., 33, of Natchitoches, he admitted having a .45 caliber muzzleloader in the residence.

Deputies obtained permission to search the residence and while checking the residence for the weapon, they observed suspected narcotics in plain view in the residence.

Natchitoches Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents were notified and responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.

Deputies and Task Force agents obtained permission to search the residence for narcotics.

During a search of the residence, deputies seized suspected methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and drug paraphernalia.

Obannon was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-count of Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine-2nd or Subsequent Offenses, 1-count of Illegal Possession of CDS Schedule III Hydrocodone, 1-count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 1-count of Illegal Possession and Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Persons under the Age of 17, and Probation Violation.

Obannon remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center with a probation hold.

Obannon, who has prior felony narcotic convictions, is on probation until 2017.

The child was released to a relative.

Involved in the arrest were: Deputies assigned to NPSO Patrol Shift “A”, Criminal Investigations, Natchitoches Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force, and Louisiana State Police.
