RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed two local women that were not wearing their seatbelt.

Troopers responded to the crash around 12:15 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 1205 near Credeur Road.  The crash involved a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by Heather E. Cosenza McComic, 31, of Boyce.  The Honda was northbound on LA Hwy 1205 when McComic lost control and exited the right side of the roadway.  After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree.

McComic was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead.  Her only passenger, identified as Ashley Nicole Gallien, 29, of Pineville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.  The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E Troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 32 fatalities.
