Arrest made in murder of Pamela Carnahan

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) --  The Alexandria Police Department has released a "be on the lookout" alert for a suspect they believe is connected to the murder of Pamela Carnahan on May 9.

Police are looking for 28-year-old Julius Jamal Garnett. He's 5' 8" and about 200 lbs.

Police say his known address is at Chateau Deville apartments. You may remember, that's where Carnahan lived and was murdered.

Police say they're charging Garnett with 2nd degree murder. They say he is possibly armed and dangerous and urge the public to not approach him if you spot him.

Police are offering an award leading to his arrest of up to $5,000.

**UPDATE July 26, 2014 at 9 p.m. Alexandria Police say Julius Garnett has turned himself in. He's been officially charged with 2nd degree murder for the death of Pamela Carnahan. No other details are being released at this time.**
