NPD: One man dead after plane crash

 NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A plane crashed Sunday morning in Natchitoches and has left one man dead. 

It happened around 11 a.m. just west of Hwy 1 in a field. 

According to Natchitoches Police Captain Brad Walker, the police department received several calls from citizens reporting the plane had crashed in a field behind some houses in the Pan Am subdivision.

Emergency personnel were sent to the scene where they found a blue and white Cessna sky hawk plane with heavy damage.

According to Captain Brad Walker, when officers first arrived, they found two people in the plane. One man was unresponsive while the other was still conscious and was transported to Natchitoches Regional Hospital.

Thaddeus T. Longlois, 83, also of Natchitoches, was declared dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office.

 Jack McCain, Jr., 81, of Natchitoches, was taken to the hospital and later airlifted to University Health in Shreveport with serious injuries.

According to Farrah Reyna, who is with the City of Natchitoches, McCain was a former councilman for about 20 years.

According to police, it is undetermined who was the pilot due to the severity of the injuries and law enforcement being unable to speak with McCain.
