School bus accident in Alexandria leaves one injured

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) -- Shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, August 22,  Alexandria Police responded to the intersection of Jackson and Foisy Streets in reference to an accident involving a Rapides Parish school bus and a Ford Expedition.

According to investigators, the school bus was traveling southbound on Foisy Street when the driver fail to yield for the stop light, and hit the Ford Expedition that was traveling westbound on Jackson Street. The driver of the Expedition was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. There were no injuries reported by the driver of the bus or its occupants.

According the the Rapides Parish School Board, the bus was headed to Peabody Montessori.

Police cited the bus driver for a red light violation.
