Central Louisiana Forecast

SYNOPSIS...A high pressure cell aloft centered over northeast TX will continue to dominate our weather pattern Wednesday. By Thursday, the high moves a bit to the west and this will allow an increase in rain chances. It will also help steer a cold front through Central Louisiana, increasing rain chances to a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

WEDNESDAY...Partly cloudy with oppressive heat. Highs 95-101. The peak heat index may reach 110. A 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. A variable wind 3-8 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT...Mostly clear and muggy. A 10% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Lows 73-79. West wind 2-6 mph.

THURSDAY...Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms may be strong with frequent lightning and strong wind. The heat will remain oppressive prior to the storms and for locations where it does not rain. Highs 95-101 with peak heat indices of 112 possible. North wind 2-6 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT...Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of storms. Lows 74-80. North breeze 1-5 mph.

FRIDAY... Mostly sunny and hot. Highs 96-100. A 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. North winds 2-8 mph.
