    A slow "farmer's" rain fell across the area today as the area was blasted with tropical moisture to the south. As high pressure setup across the eastern U.S., tropical moisture banked up against it and consolidated across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. As a trough approached from the west, the high pressure pushed eastward allowing the tropical moisture to finally move northward in bulk.     A surge of deep, rich moisture is moving northward from the Gulf of Mexico in response to a disturbance in the jet stream over the southern Plains. This will set the stage for a significant rain event in central Louisiana late Friday night and Saturday. This will be a persistent and an efficient episode with potential to three to five inches.
