Central Louisiana Forecast

SYNOPSIS...High pressure aloft centered over eastern Oklahoma will continue to shift westward during the next couple of days. A cold front will push south into the state. The front will not impact temperatures, but will lead to a slight rain chance this afternoon. Clearing will follow on Friday through the weekend, with continued hot temperatures.

THURSDAY...Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of scattered showers and t-storms. A few storms may be strong with frequent lightning and strong wind. The heat will be oppressive with highs 96-103. The heat index may reach 110. A variable wind.

THURSDAY NIGHT...Partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a few lingering showers and t-storms. Lows 71-77. N/NW wind 2-6 mph.

FRIDAY...Partly cloudy becoming mostly sunny. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 93-99 with the peak heat index reaching 105. NE wind 2-6 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT...Mostly clear. Lows 75-79. NE wind 1-5 mph.

SATURDAY...Sunny and hot. Highs 94-100. NE wind 1-5 mph.
