BALL, La. (KALB) - On a rainy night, the Ward 10 Rec Board unanimously voted to reopen the Ward 10 sports complex.

With the complex reopening, Tioga and travel ball teams can now use the facility to practice.

Attorney Greg Jones drafted the safety guidelines. A few of them include parents signing a health release form saying that they understand the risk of allowing their child to play, and they must show proof of having liability insurance.

Dixie softball president Gordon Frye says the league has 2500 mask. They also have bottles of hand sanitizer to help stop the spread of germs.

The season is expected to be 10 games with 17 teams already registered. The start date of the season is June 29th.

The fight to reopen the park has been going on since May.

During the board’s monthly meeting in May, recreation board president Mike Nelson and Dixie softball president Gordon Frye disagreed on when the park should open.

The debate was centered around a decision from the Rapides Parish police jury.

Weeks ago, a Facebook page called ‘Let Our Kids Play Ball’ showed the anger of Ward 10 parents.

Days later, President Nelson posted a statement saying that plans were in place to reopen the park.

Great news everyone! Our efforts as a community have paid off. We are receiving word that the park is going to be opened...
