Florida woman arrested by Bunkie police for possessing $30,000 worth of drugs
BUNKIE, La. (KALB) - A woman from Jupiter, Florida has been accused of transporting $30,000 worth of marijuana through the Bunkie area.
The Bunkie Police Department says they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Melissa Jane Pichardo traveling from Arizona to Florida on U.S. 71 southbound.
During the search of the vehicle, BPD located a duffel bag containing six large vacuum sealed bags which contained 799 tubes containing two grams of high-grade marijuana in each. They also say they located a total of 49 grams of THC wax and a separate bag containing 32 grams of high-grade marijuana.
Pichardo was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was later booked on the charges into the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center.
