LSUA releases newest issue of ‘The Oak Leaf’
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - LSU of Alexandria has released the first issue of the second volume of The Oak Leaf: Undergraduate Journal of Teaching and Research.
It’s an open-access, peer-reviewed journal designed to recognize the accomplishments of LSUA undergraduate students and faculty.
“Basically, it is for undergraduates to publish, but also professors and it gives students an opportunity to submit their work for editing,” said LSUA Chair of English and Humanities, Dr. Holly Wilson.
The Oak Leaf is a multidisciplinary publication that gives students a chance to be mentored by their professors, who may help students find ways to improve their pieces before submission.
“An opportunity to be a scholar just doesn’t come around very often and we encourage our students to do research,” said Wilson. And, it’s the only undergraduate journal of its kind in the state of Louisiana.
“It’s just such a learning experience for students,” said English major and published scholar in The Oak Leaf, Tia Malak.
