Authorities investigating body discovered north of Marksville

AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office said the body of a woman has been discovered in the Blue Town Community north of Marksville.

The body has been sent for an autopsy. It will be further analyzed by the FACES Lab in Baton Rouge.

News Channel 5 was told the body was found on private property, not far from Sugar Point Road.

The body has not yet been positively identified. Foul play is suspected.

APSO and the Avoyelles Coroner’s Office are working jointly to investigate the matter to determine the cause and manner of death.
