LSUA, LCU WBB eyeing next step in RRAC under second year head coaches
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Louisiana Christian and LSUA Women’s basketball teams both took another step in the right direction under first-year head coaches.
Both schools claimed a spot in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament during the 2022-2023 season. Heading into this season, the conference favors LCU over their cross-parish rival. The Lady Wildcats are picked to finish fourth in the preseason RRAC poll under Anna Phillips while LSUA is projected to place sixth in the standings led by Billy Perkins.
For LCU, the biggest obstacle to overcome this season will be replacing the conference player of the year in Miya McKinney. McKinney was the first player in program history to earn RRAC Player of the Year honors after averaging a double-double for the season.
LSUA returns a talented group back that finished last season on a high note winning nine of their last 13 games and finishing with a winning record in conference for the first time in three years.
The Generals will tip off against SUNO in New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the season opener.
LCU will begin its 2023-2024 campaign with a road exhibition at Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Nov. 9.
