Charisma Thrash

Hi! My name is Charisma Thrash. Thanks for clicking on my bio to find out more about me!

I’m very thankful and grateful to anchor Jambalaya, weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., to help start your morning. I’m fascinated and inspired by people and their unique stories, which is why I’m honored to share information, focusing on issues, events and news that affect our viewers in Central Louisiana.

Before joining the KALB News team, I’ve worked in newsrooms throughout Texas, which is where I’m from, and in Louisiana, where I landed my first job in television.

One of the most memorable stories I’ve covered is the George Floyd riots that sparked across Dallas, Texas, stemming from the protests that brewed in Minneapolis. It was the action and strength of the demonstrators to create change from a desolating situation that has inspired me professionally and personally.

When I’m not in the newsroom, I enjoy watching football (GO COWBOYS!), cooking, eating spicy food, working out, playing with my dogs and spending time with my family in Texas.

Other facts about me: I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, I was named after my mother’s favorite perfume she used to wear in high school, “Charisma,” by Avon, and I’m also a member of the honorable, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and a Master of Science degree in Sports Journalism. I’m also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Texas Association of Broadcasters.
