Before coming to Alexandria, Corey worked in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as a general assignment reporter at FOX 23 News. During his time with FOX 23, Corey covered both news and sports, where he managed to land an exclusive interview with Brett Favre about a possible concussion treatment that the FDA may take a look at in the future.
Corey discovered his love for journalism while attending Grambling State University (GSU), where he studied Mass Communication and graduated in the spring of 2015. Two years later, in 2017, he continued his education and graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) with his master’s degree.
While working towards his master’s degree as a full-time student, he also served as the media graduate assistant for LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes and worked as a photographer for WAFB Channel 9’s high school football show called Friday Night SportsLine. Before working at WAFB (with Friday Night SportsLine), Corey spent the summer of 2016 getting his feet wet in the news world by interning in Shreveport, Louisiana at KSLA News 12, as both a news and sports reporter.
Outside of the newsroom, Corey considers himself to be an all-around fun guy. You might catch him out on the town spending time with family and friends. Corey loves sports and being from Arlington, TX he can talk to anyone all day about the Dallas Cowboys. Boxing is one of his biggest hobbies, and in 2017 he finished second in the state during the Louisiana Golden Gloves tournament.
Corey is also a member of the National Association of Journalists and often participates in various regional and national conferences.
