Lydia Magallanes co-anchors Live at Five on weekdays. She also covers Vernon Parish and is the primary military reporter for the station.
Lydia returned to KALB in 2016 after two years at KLFY TV 10 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She actually started her broadcast career at KALB in 2013 first as an intern then as a news/sports photographer and reporter.
Lydia is a graduate of Louisiana College and Leesville High School. Louisiana is home, although she lived in Texas for many years growing up with some stops in Virginia, New York and Hawaii before her step-dad retired at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Since her return to KALB, Lydia has covered stories like Tropical Storm Harvey impacts on Vernon Parish and 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division’s 9-month deployment to Iraq.
In her downtime, Lydia enjoys traveling when she can, along with reading, writing and crafting. She’s also a soccer fan. When she’s not anchoring or covering stories out of Vernon Parish and Fort Polk, you might see Lydia on the sidelines of a local high school football game.
