$25M set for Ponchatoula man accused of possession of child pornography

Edd Scafidel Jr. (Louisiana State Police)

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (LSP) - On Tuesday, the FBI New Orleans Child Exploitation Task Force (CETF), including Louisiana State Police, arrested Edd Scafidel Jr., 59, of Ponchatoula, for possession of pornography involving juveniles.

Scafidel faces over 1,000 counts of possession, and his bond was set at $25 million dollars.

The investigation began in November after CETF agents received information related to the possession of child pornography. CETF agents searched Scafidel’s residence, and several electronic devices were seized as evidence. Scafidel was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. Potential federal criminal charges may be forthcoming.

This was a joint arrest and made in coordination with the task force.
