NEW YORK (AP) - ABC's "World News Tonight" with David Muir has some bragging rights. The broadcast dethroned NBC to finish the television season as the year's most-watched evening newscast for the first time in 21 years, since the late Peter Jennings was anchor.
ABC News President James Goldston said Muir and his team have broken one of the great streaks in television, and will look to build on that success.
Meanwhile, NBC News chief Noah Oppenheim said he wouldn't trade places with his rivals. He said NBC's "Nightly News" is journalistically superior and wins in the more important demographic measurement upon which advertising sales are based.
CBS, meanwhile, is touting the performance of its morning news show.
