APD: Nothing suspicious located following bomb threat at Arthur F. Smith

The Alexandria Police Department said that a bomb threat was called into Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet School on Thursday around 2:30 p.m.

APD was notified of the threat at 2:48 p.m. Officers responded and assisted the RPSO School Resource Office and school faculty in clearing the students from the school.

The buildings were secured. Nothing suspicious was located. APD says the investigation is ongoing.

Rapides Parish Superintendent Jeff Powell released the following statement:

"Unfortunately, the school did receive a phone call alleging that a bomb was on the campus. Our administrators, teachers and school resource officer followed protocol to ensure that all students and faculty remained safe. Law-enforcement is involved in the investigation."

There was recently a bomb threat at the school on January 23.
