On Wednesday, a concerned resident called APD, saying they received a suspicious voicemail. The suspect identified himself as an APD detective, using the name of an actual detective. The suspect said the resident needed to call him back concerning a very urgent matter and left a phone number with a Shreveport-area prefix.

APD says they are investigating the incident and will attempt to locate and arrest the suspect.

Residents are warned to not return calls of this nature. Always check the number first and do a web search of area codes and prefixes to see where the call might be coming from.

If you have received a similar scam call, please call APD Dispatch at (318) 449-5099 or the Detective Division at (318) 441-6416. If you have any other questions or concerns, you can reach the Public Information Office at (318) 441-6420.
