If you fly much, chances are that you've been held up by a weather-related delay. Two new studies by Aviation Experts and the University of California at Berkeley reveal flight delays are much more than an inconvenience-they come with a huge price tag. The researchers estimate the economic impact at $25 to $32 billion worldwide.

Where are the worst trouble spots in the United States? The U.S. Department of Transportation's statistics for the period September 2016 through August 2017 indicate Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) tops the list. It is followed by San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). The nearest highly ranked major airport to central Louisiana is Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).

You might keep these numbers in mind if you're flying for Thanksgiving this year.
