The Lions Club is actually an international group with different chapters in cities across the world. It stands for Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation's Safety.
Their goal is to get involved in humanitarian projects in the communities, all the while living by the motto "We Serve."
The Alexandria Club was started in 1929 and is still holding strong 90 years later.
Members and city officials met up at Piccadilly on Wednesday afternoon for the celebration. Among those attending were past presidents, even some who now live in other states.
“That's an honor to me that they think enough of our club and still have their home ties to come back here and visit,” expressed Susan Ballard, the current president."
"It’s good to be back in Alexandria,” added Aaron Mcallister, past president. “I have many friends here. Every time I have a dream it always includes Alexandria, I haven't been away long enough to where it's not part of my life."
If you ever want to meet up with the Alexandria Lions Club, they have lunch at Piccadilly every Wednesday or you can find some more information at the attached link.
